MORE ARTIST ADDITIONS SOON!!!

Amongst the ruins of a derelict motel site in the Lakewood community of Atlanta, Urban Sprout Farms has created a sanctuary for growing fresh produce. On November 15th, a group of champions for the Atlanta arts community are getting together to present a day of music, literature and art to raise awareness for this creative repurposing of land that was once laying to waste.

MARK HOSLER OF NEGATIVLAND // MAGICICADA @ Eyedrum Art & Music Gallery

"MAGICICADA: Trying to define Magicicada and explain what’s going on in Wrack With Ruin is quite difficult. At times the album is glitchy, at others it’s melodic, and at others it’s just plain confusing. There are harrowing vocal samples and sounds that couldn’t possibly have been orchestrated; here, mastermind Chris White proves himself to be a master of the printer sound. One thing is certain: Wrack With Ruin is heavy and dark in a way that makes it difficult to listen to fully. It’s really good, but just like Death Grip’s LP No Love Deep Web, it’s so hard-hitting that it might be tough to go from start to finish. However, the farther in you get, the easier it is to take in. The 15 tracks on the record are all so different, it’s impossible to just sum the album up with a few of them.

Jane Garver "FLOORPLANS ON NAPKINS" exhibition @ MINT

"MINT is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new works by Jane Garver. The exhibition at MINT will run from November 8th through December 7th, 2014, with an opening reception on November 8th from 8pm-11pm. FLOOR PLANS ON NAPKINS is a new body of work created at Fljótstunga Residency in Iceland in 2014. The work is a culmination of collaborative soundwalks in acoustically unique environments, combining recollections of first homes with walks through unfamiliar environments. Originally recorded with two sensitive directional microphones, one for dialogue one for surrounding sounds, the work is first a performance and secondarily a sound composition. The piece becomes a melding of spoken visual imagery and field recordings, an absorbing meditative conversation. Jane Garver (b*1985, New Orleans) is a sculptor, performer, and sound artist living and working in Atlanta, Georgia. Her sound works explore isolation versus connectivity in public spaces, beginning with subtle repeated experiments in trust and reciprocity. She uses sculpture and performance also as frameworks for interaction, often engaging kinetic movement and unscripted involvement, favoring communication and process over controlled outcomes."

Their musical endeavors are laden with spoken and rhythmic samples, a diverse array of instrumentation including cello, accordion, theremin, trumpet and heavily processed bass and guitar, accentuated with overlapping textures of sung and spoken lyrics, centered around the absurdity of modern procedural existence. http://soundcloud.com/choking-sun The Mumzees If ghosts got really high and played in a really loud garage rock band, this is what they'd sound like. http://themumzees.bandcamp.com/ Japanese meat fetish Madison Orr of The Mumzees doing some shoegazey/ambientish solo stuff http://japanesemeatfetish.bandcamp.com/ Concrete Vernacular Local noise debut. http://concretevernacular.bandcamp.com/ Lava Lamps Local psychadelic debut!"
