Record of the Week: Language EP by Clothes

Clothes, made up of Wes Brooks, Will Lackey, and John Davenport, is a newcomer to Atlanta's music scene, but this young outfit certainly has potential to make their mark in this city. Their recently released EP, Language, contains a cornucopia of experimental beats and electronic sounds, taking the listener on a memorable voyage in barely over eleven minutes. "Hourglass" new work by Molly Rose Freeman @ Beep Beep Gallery

"Beep Beep Gallery is proud to present "Hourglass" a solo exhibition of paintings and installations by Atlanta base artist Molly Rose Freeman. “Hourglass” explores the relationships between painter, documenter, and audience to find the shared bond that exists within the public art performance. It will use the gallery environment to emphasize the dynamics of these relationships, specifically the interaction within roles that will be clearly defined through light, proximity, and the existence of barriers. The Saturday following the completion of the mural, Beep Beep Gallery will host an opening from 7-10pm featuring Ms. Freeman's work as well as the video and photographic documentation of the install. The artist will be present and panels making up parts of the mural will be for sale."

 

 

SHANTIH SHANTIH 7" Release Show Party Night w/ SUBSONICS & FACTORY @ 529

"Shantih Shantih is a four-piece band from Atlanta, Georgia playing fuzzed out, desert dusted rock n roll drawing from ‘60s psych and ‘80s dream pop. Anna Barattin (ex-Vermillion Sands / Trouble in Mind & Fat Possum, and now an Atlantan by way of Italy) delivers distinctive vocals and English-language lyrics in narrative vignettes that play out over threefold backing vocal harmonies and Anna Kramer’s (Anna Kramer and the Lost Cause, Ocha La Rocha) hypnotic, layered solos."

"Brock Guthrie & Megan Volpert met ten years ago in a writing workshop at Louisiana State University, where they both managed to get an MFA. in Creative Writing. Then they each married nice girls who forced them to grow up. Bruce Covey's sixth book of poetry, Change Machine, was recently published by Noemi. He lives in Atlanta, GA, where he edits Coconut magazine and Coconut Books and curates the What's New in Poetry reading series. Anna B. Sutton is a poet and publisher from Nashville, TN. Her work has appeared in or is forthcoming from Third Coast, Barrow Street, DIAGRAM, Quarterly West, Weave, Superstition Review, and other journals. She is a cofounder of the Porch Writers' Collective in Nashville, TN, web editor at One Pause Poetry out of Ann Arbor, MI, and on the editorial staff at Dialogist and Gigantic Sequins literary journals."
